HIV/AIDS day, Dec. 1st

Hey everyone! 

Here are some great pictures to show what my school did for HIV/AIDS day, December 1st. Seven of the students from our 11th class attended an HIV/AIDS camp in the summer. Five of them conducted HIV/AIDS trainings to the 9th, 10th, and 11th classes in our school.

My German friend, Johanna, is also a volunteer in Ukraine and she helped me make posters. This one shows how HIV/AIDS is concentrated in Ukraine. 

FYI: Ukraine has the highest number of cases in Eastern Ukraine.

Most HIV infections are spread through sexual intercourse or by drug users who share needles. 

In English: This is a logical diagram that demonstrates why or why not people chose to protect themselves. 

Many Ukrainians continue to share needles because there are no needle-exchange programs available and buying needles is expensive. 

The winner of this year's HIV/AIDS poster contest....in Ukrainian, which I don't speak, but I think it says, "We are with you, you are not alone"

This poster is the winner from last year. This one shows the importance of keeping by friends who are suffering with HIV/AIDS!

Planetarium and Halloween!

Hello all!

Our English club has had a great last two weeks. We took a trip to our local planetarium two weekends ago and we had a great time. Watch our lovely video to see!!!

We also had a Halloween party in Ms. Daniela's classroom! First we made posters, pumpkins, bats and ghosts to hang around the classroom and then we all went home to prepare our costumes. The voted 'best costume' was by Dasha who showed up as Sherlock Holmes. (But she unfortunately is not in our school or English club!)  The voted 'funniest costume' was by Katya Adrianova who came as Captain Jack Sparrow, (All hand-made by her lovely mother!) The party was started with some munchies, then some dancing, and then ended by some scary ghost stories. We had a great time and we would love to hear about how YOUR class spent Halloween!

What have we already done?

We had a Mexican party to celebrate and learn about Mexican culture and how it plays a big part in American culture. :-)
